Dear Vows (“we,” “us”) helps people write wedding vows. This policy explains what information we handle when you use dearvows.com, including the vow writer, teleprompter, guides, and partner pages.
Information you give us
You can use most of the site without creating an account. Depending on how you use Dear Vows, you may share:
- Stories, names, memories, and other answers you type into the vow writer or memory bank
- An email address if you request the vow-writing checklist
- Name, business, email, PayPal, and related details if you apply as a partner
- Messages you send to hello@dearvows.com
Drafts and generated vows are saved in your browser (local storage) so you can leave and come back. We do not require a login to keep that progress on your device.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we collect basic technical data such as pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from IP address. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.
If you complete a paid unlock, Stripe processes your payment. We do not store your full card number on our servers. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data.
How we use information
- To generate and refine vow drafts from the stories you provide
- To save progress on your device and operate the teleprompter
- To send a checklist or reply when you ask us to
- To review partner applications
- To improve the product, fix bugs, and understand which guides people read
- To process payments and prevent abuse
AI processing
When you generate vows, the answers and stories you submit are sent to our AI provider so we can draft language for you. Do not include information you are not comfortable sharing for that purpose. Generated text is a draft for you to edit. We do not sell your stories.
Who we share with
We share information only as needed to run the service:
- AI infrastructure used to generate vow drafts
- Stripe, if you pay
- Google Analytics for usage measurement
- Internal tools we use to receive optional email signups and partner applications
- Authorities if required by law
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
Analytics and similar technologies help us see how the site performs. Your browser can block cookies; some features may still work, including local drafts on your device.
How long we keep information
Browser drafts stay on your device until you clear site data. Emails and partner applications we receive are kept only as long as needed to respond and operate the service. Payment records are retained by Stripe as required for transactions.
Your choices
You can clear local storage in your browser to remove drafts on that device. You can email us to ask what we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete information we control (for example an email you sent us). We may need to keep limited records where the law requires it.
Children
Dear Vows is for adults planning a wedding. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
